Episode 117: Spaceballs is a Good Movie

While Matt and Amber have played barely any games this week, and Ricardo has been too busy with wrestling events to play anything that isn’t on his phone or a clicker, Ethan makes up for it by playing several games and recording an interesting experience during the Battlefield 1 beta test! We have a few serious business news items to get through before we get to the absolute glory that is one of this week’s Trailer Trash trailers. We’ll let you guess which one it is.

Games we played:

Ethan: Rimworld, Batman Telltale, Battlefield 1 kinda, WWE 2k16

Ricardo: Street Fighter Puzzle Spirits, Adventure Capitalist

Matt: Nothing!

Amber: Not Much!

Episode 14: It’s Too Hot in Here “Let’s just be friends!”

The southern Califonia heat takes it toll as we do our best not to shout at each other while talking about the games we’ve played this week. As well as an interesting new development in the Kickstarter space. An open source game console? Could it work?

Don’t Ignore the Vita’s 3G Option Just Yet….

What we already knew: The Playstation Vita comes in two flavors, WiFi only ($249.99) and WiFi + 3G ($299.99).

What’s new: The more expensive 3G option has been re-bundled.

Seeing as many gamers were repelled by the 3G model’s more expensive price point (and probably the AT&T logo), Sony has realized that they needed to make the 3G option more appealing.

Believe it or not, they actually have.

If you opt for the 3G version of the system, you’ll also receive one of the Vita’s 8GB proprietary memory cards, normally a $35 value on its own. Even the “First Edition Bundle,” which releases an entire week before the Vita’s Feb. 22 launch, is only equipped with a 4GB card.

You’ll also receive a free month’s access to the plan in addition to a downloadable copy of the popular twin-stick shooter, Super Stardust Delta.

Pick your poison, legends.

Preview—I’ve played the Vita. Don’t be jealous, though. You can too.

Select GameStop locations are currently displaying playable Vita units in their stores.  Although my time with Sony’s new handheld was brief at best, I’ve put together  a few first impressions:

While certainly more comfortable to hold than the 3Ds, the size and clarity of the OLED touch screen had me immediately impressed by the hardware.

The system is also surprisingly light, that is, without sacrificing durability (We’re talking to you, PSP 3000).

The analog sticks feel smaller than what we’re used to, but they’re sturdy, responsive, and well within reach (Hear that, Circle Pad Pro?).

Playable demos include Hot Shots GolfUncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Little Deviants, and more. However, one game in particular stood out among the rest…
